Full description
Extant C19 shop built in 1870 as Samuel & Tom Trounson's high-class grocery store, now two shops. Built for £2000, its ornate stone and brickwork is topped with carved pinnacles. They were also corn merchants, importing and storing the corn at Truro. At the back, the old hoist that lifted products into the store is still in place (1). It also extensively uses cast iron decoratively for use as columns. Designed by James Hicks (2).
